My central interest is the human body. With my soft sculptures, my aim is to elicit conflicting feelings of seduction and repulsion that unsettle viewers and trigger unconscious feelings and conscious thoughts about their own body. Drawing on Surrealism’s central focus of joining reality and fantasy, eroticism and death, my works explore the unresolvable conflict between everybody’s dream to be loved and desired confronted by anxieties, repressed sexual memories and corporeal reality. By using soft sculpture’s ability to evoke ambivalent and conflicting associations in relation to the human body, all works aim to translate personal experiences into forms that destabilise dominant cultural representational belief systems and stereotypes.

Mein zentrales Interesse ist der menschliche Koerper. Meine weichen Skulpturen sollen wiederspruechliche Gefuehle zwischen Anziehung und Abscheu erregen, die verunsichern und somit Gefuehle aus dem Unbewussten ausloesen und zum Nachdenken ueber den eigenen Koerper anregen. Wie im Surrealismus, der Realitaet mit Fantasie und Erotik mit Tod verbindet, druecken meine Arbeiten den unloesbaren Konflikt zwischen dem traum, geliebt zu werden und Aengsten vor der Wirklichkeit des koerperlichen Verfalls aus. Durch die Naehe zum menschlichen Koerper koennen weiche Skulpturen sehr persoenlichen menschlichen Gefuehlen Ausdruck verleihen und so gesellschaftliche Stereotypen und konventionelle Erwartungen hinterfragen.
